Call for Papers Announcement

The 2007 annual conference of the Australasian Universities Building Education Association (AUBEA) is now calling for participants and their papers or workshops.

In 2007 we are promising a return to the more traditional emphasis of AUBEA, with concentration on teaching, networking, collaboration and quality management. The strong research emphasis remains, but the sessions will be divided between presentation of refereed outputs and workshops on teaching, research management and quality.

Recent conference research topics continue: construction management, quantity surveying, construction economics and value management, building science and technology, building services, materials, building control, building surveying, property economics, project management and facilities management.

In 2007 we will also return to calling for papers and workshops on our traditional themes of teaching and research management. Topics will include: Research Quality Framework (strategy and impact), Education Quality Framework (and AUQA), Collaboration, Teaching methods, Funding, International markets, etc.

In addition to conference papers, authors are invited to submit workshop papers. These will be refereed position papers, but must include a framework for consequent discussion which the author(s) will facilitate. While the papers must stand alone in the proceedings, the workshop components will form the basis for the workshop session. Workshops may be from any of the conference themes, but teaching and research management themes are preferred.

The conference will minimise the number of breakout sessions by reducing the time available for presentations. The emphasis for the research papers will be through the proceedings, so the presenters will be invited to present their key findings and to tell the attendees what to look out for in their paper. This will create a fast-paced presentation and leave room for discussion forums and workshops on traditional AUBEA themes.

The research component of the conference will be focussed to be more like a journal, with quality refereed papers being published electronically but with the added advantage of an opportunity to present the paper to the education community. Presentations will be kept short, and the results fed into discussion sessions. Abstracts are requested, but only the full paper will be subject to blind peer review.

It is hoped that the result will be a fast-paced and exciting conference, with the underlying rigour of refereed papers, but with a faster and more flexible presentation format which all can participate in.

Please join into the fun of the 2007 conference and, if it is your power, encourage and support your staff to attend.
